Yesterday, the electricity went off in our office building and for more than an hour, we just filed documents that needed to be filed, segregated the papers in our desk...in short, we did work that does not involve computer or any other office equipments powered by electricity.
Our lunchbreak arrived and yet there was no power. So Jenny and I took the stairs and oh my goodness it was pitchdark. It was because the staircases are situated in the middle of the building and only flourescent bulbs provide light on it.
So we used the puny light coming off our cell phones to guide our way, and we count the steps each flight so we'd not stumble down. We traipsed down the five flights of stair in near darkness.
Yesterday's event made me realize how dependent the world is to electricity these days that work is totally disrupted once electricity was out.
But at the same time, it made me appreciate technology! Our cellphone was dually useful yesterday.
