I am so burnt out with work already!

I promise I would never talk about work here but just this instance allow me to rant!

This morning, I came late for work again because I overslept. I arrived at 10 Am already. Who would greet me when the elevator door opened at our floor but our Manager? What a luck!

Last week, I already received a warning for my attendance and punctuality. SIGH. This is so not me at all.

There was a time when i came to work at before 8:30 AM and still leave work at 6 PM. But the time, the desire and the willingness was long gone. The thought of only doing all my usual online activities motivates me to go to work at all. Not even the thought of having to work to support our sister's schooling and our family can motivate me.

Partially, it's their fault. They have promised me an increase since 2003 and until now, nothing has been done about it. They would just let my hopes up each time I wanted to resign and then blag - nothing.

I know i should find other work but since we were transferred recently from ASC to KASCO, I have to finish two years first before I can transfer. Well, the good news is, one year was up last July. Only 11 more months to go.....then I'll be leaving!

NO INTERNET AT WORK

NO INTERNET AT WORK

For five hours, there was no internet at work yesterday and in my restlessness, I was able to write 'articles' for my two blogs.

JMF Anniversary is looming ahead and yet I didn’t have any idea yet what to do for the new banner and design of the board. Lord help *Jasmine mode* I need inspiration quick.

Connecting with people instantly

No, i am not talking about a cell phone company. I am talking about real life situations where one connects instantly with a person he or she just meet.

And recently, I have just connected with three people at once! Yes, we just met online and through our love of Kimerald, but still, it’s not everyday that one gets to connect with people instantly.

1) Yapping. We met through the usual chaotic and noisy YM group chat. :D I PMed her when she asked about the BTS we thanked Nancy for. And then we just clicked. We talked about Kimerald, we talked about ourselves and we have learned that we’re just the same age, though I was just two months and a few days older than her. We talked about her reason for being jobless *giggle* and a lot more.

2) Anne1011. As usual, we also met through the chaotic YM chat. Then last Friday, she PMed me coz it was just the two of us online. And we hit it off right away. We discovered we share a lot of things in common: we both do not drink coffee, she also liked GIMIK back then, she also thinks we both deserve an ABS-CBN loyalty award because we do not watch any other channel – most specifically THE other channel. And oh how my heart soared when she also watched MBA back then and she knew John Ferriols, Negros Slashers and Cebu Gems. We have a lot of things in common it was a little uncanny. Hhhmmm, what else would we discover that we share?

3) Marie85. We met through PM in PEx coz she just joined PEx recently and she’s from Iloilo. But the moment we have talked over at YM, we have been unstoppable. She has been a fountain of information about KG and she has been updating me about KG. LOL! It seems that she’s been crazy over KG since their PBB days and it’s only now that she’s discovered PEx. Of course, we have also talked about our lives so we’re getting to know each other well. Now, we talk daily.

I’m not saying that I haven’t connected with the others I’ve met, or think of them less. It’s just that I was still kinda holding back while talking with the others. But with these three, I have easily became comfortable.

Happy Birthday Bernard!

Today is Bernard's birthday but last night, at around 12 MN we surprised him at his house, bearing a cake, pancit, fried chicken, egg sandwich and jugs of iced tea.

So when we arrived from work last night, I immediately baked the cake which turned into a disaster. Good thing there were candies around the house, so I just covered the ruined part with candies. LOL

Then Liz cooked the pancit and fried the chicken wings while Sharie mixed the filling for the egg sandwich. We finished everything at around 11 PM and then the eight of us (Me, Sharie, Liz, Anna, Mark, Alge, Maybel ang Loribel) all trooped towards Bernard's house.

We put on the candles on the cake and lighted them, then Mark knocked on the door. After several minutes of knocking and the candles melting, Bernard was not answering the door still. So Anna called him up and told him to go out for a while.

It took him ages to go out so Liz and Alge put out the candles on the cake first. But the moment they blew it off, Bernard attempted to open his front door. So Anna had to grab it so he cannot open it, while Liz, Sharie and Alge attempted to light the candles again.

After a few minutes, the candles were all lighted again, but when we attempted to open the door it was locked! At first, Alge, Liz and Anna thought Bernard got upset. But he opened it a few moments later. He later explained that he was just in his boxers when he first opened the door. So when he saw that there were a lot of us outside, he changed into shorts and shirt.

Then we all entered his house, greeted him, ate midnight snacks, talked and laughed and took pictures and then left again after 45 minutes because all of us had to work early the next morning.

The whole surprise thing was planned by Liz. It was a fun night, even though Sharie and I were very drowsy already coz we've been up for 24 hours already.

Terminate me if you want, I'd accept it gladly!

It has been noticed that you have consistently been coming late to work and also you have too many absences.

Since this is not acceptable and this lack of responsibility cannot be overlooked,we are drawing your that in case of any further lateness or absence your contract will be terminated.

My day started so great with all the reports about Kimerald sightings on TV, and the great pictures that was posted over at PEx.

Then work got in the way, when I received countless successive calls asking about refunds. One of our counter staff informed me that she has sent a refund authority from one of our suppliers so I opened my work email just then.

And what greeted me was the email above.

I knew I had it coming. I knew it was my fault. I have been trying my best to prod myself to give importance to my work but unfortunately, I am totally burnt out from it. Ever since the year started, I have told myself not to be absent from work anymore but I really cannot help it. There are just days when it was hard to get up and to find enthusiasm and inspiration to go to work.

Nothing at work motivates me, nobody inspires me. Thinking about work upon waking up each day depresses me. Only the thought of PExing kinda motivates me (though I can also do it at the house).

Sigh, sometimes I just wish that they'd terminate me coz i had enough here at work. All those promises of increments were just talks even until now. They just kept my hopes up time and again. But Nothing!

Forum Wars

War is such a deep word I guess for the recent controversy in PEX, but since I want to exaggerate, then war it is. :D

Disagreements and arguments and rudeness in forums is not new to me. I have started joining forums since February 2003 and stayed in the first forum for almost four years I think. While I was in the said forum, I have lost count of the times when Flamers would come to the board and hurl accusations right and left at the regular members there.

At first, I was one of the 'defenders' of the forum despite my bad experience on it. But after a long time, i finally saw the truth and realized and accepted the reality that some of the pioneer members of the forum were indeed bitches. So I turned tail and left, created another forum with some of my friends in that forum and now, we are happy in our forum, though yes, we do have disagreements and arguments every now and then.

I just started PEXing last May (and was inactive the second half of May and the whole June coz i was on vacation and was making the most of it). Just a few days ago, someone just came out of the blue and challenged the BAOS royalties, and even called all the members of the board names.

Usually, I steer clear of trouble, especially if it doesn't concern me, but this time I was not able to stop myself. She claimed she's someone new, and her introductory post was asking the difference between KW and KGBAOs. And then she exploded when Crookshank_7 jokingly welcomed "Ania" to the christian world.

She then berated those she called "Royalties" for what they've done, challenged them to show themselves in pictures, and repeatedly asked us new members to look back and see the true colors of the BAOs. And as expected, things heated up, forcing some of the members to speak up and defend themselves.

Most however, chose to ignore her and instead, decided to show her how educated they were by showcasing their English speaking prowess. ROTFLMAO!

Seriously, I commend the BAOS for not stooping down towards the level of that flamer. :D

I've been negligent in one of my online responsibilities

Yes, I've been negligent being the JMF birthday fairy. Dana, Viv and Ivory's birthday have come and gone and I haven't made their pages yet (though the idea for their individual greeting's still on my mind.) It's somewhat understandable that I haven't made theirs coz their birthdays fell on the dates while I was in the Philippines and was not able to go online while I was there.

However, last August 15 was Janis's birthday and I haven't also made a greeting page for her. But that's because I totally didn't remember it was her birthday until the day itself arrived. I only remembered it while we were on the taxi going to the Baptist Church for Laura's dedication.

Then it's KB's birthday today. I remembered last night, but I cannot think of what to do for her page. Ahhhh, I need inspiration.

Hopefully, when Ramadan comes, I would have some time to spare and work on their birthday greeting pages.

Latest Update About Myself: Part 2

Despite the accusation of one of the flip visitors in BAOs thread in PEX, I was busy having a life lately. LOL!

Last August 8, we went to the thanksgiving party of Eloisa (because she has recently gave birth to a very adorable little girl and they have finished processing the baby's papers).

We were chosen to be godmothers so we spent a lot of time going out looking for outfits and gift for the baby and been out almost every night these past two weeks.

Last Friday, Aug. 15 was the dedication (they are Baptist). Their service would start at 7:30 AM and they invited us to attend it. So of course, we agreed. On Thursday night, the four of us, (me, Sharie, Liz and Anna) went out to buy gift wrapper and had dinner. We ate at a Filipino restaurant (and we were quite disappointed with the food), but we stayed there for almost two hours as we just talked and laughed and talked.

We arrived home at around 8 PM, wrapped our gifts and planned to sleep early because we need to wake up early the next morning. However, we started talking again (and our topic was college life and the course we took. Liz was the odd one out because me, Sharie and Anna are all BS Com Sci grads while she's a nurse) until we realized that it was already 12:30 AM. So we all trooped towards our bedroom to sleep.

However, Sharie and I did not immediately go to sleep. Instead, I told her about the "troll" in BAOS thread in PEX, and I told her about the latest news I've read about KG that day. And kept on talking about KG so we slept very late already.

The next day, we sprang out of bed when we saw that it was already 8 AM. LOL So much for the service! Anna was knocking at our door, that's why we woke up. But they told us that they've been trying to wake up since 7 AM.

We arrived at the church at 9 AM and the service was almost at its end. Good thing, the dedication ceremony was after the service so we were able to make it after all. The ceremony lasted for 15 mintues only i think.

Then we all proceeded to Eloi's house for lunch, and had a great time talking and laughing with friends there.

BTW, I decided not to include the third part of my update. I've been thinking it might leave a bad taste to some of my readers if they will read it. LOL!

Latest Update about Myself. Part 1

I have been wanting to blog about the latest happening in my life since I arrived from vacation last July. However, my laptop totally gave out (because of the damn Multiply poll *grrr*) so I had to share laptop with Sharie. And since I was only using her PC, I cannot devote too much time on my usual online activities like JMF, PEX and my blog of course.

But now that I have my own laptop again, I can update this blog regularly and get back to my writing again. There would be no excuse anymore! :D I can also devote time in making a new header/banner for JMF for our third anniversary this September. And I can spend a lot of time on PEX now.

A lot of things happened to me just last month (only one month after vacation) so I am going to tell it all here. But I am doing it in three parts because I think it would be one very long post.

Since it's summer here, the weather is very hot and dry so as usual my ear infection strikes again. It started very itchy and I had to scratch it with cotton buds, even though I know very well that it would lead to swelling of my ear canal, buzzing or no hearing at all, pain each time I swallow or open my mouth and discharges that caused itchiness inside my ear (so I had to scratch it with a tissue paper again.)

This happened on the last week of July so I was absent from work again and started on Saturday night. I had fever this time so I only slept most of the time while at home on Sunday. On Monday, it's still swelling so I went to the clinic near our place.

While I was inside the doctor's office, I enumerated to her what lead to my ear swelling. So she told me, it's an ear infection. (Of course!) And so she already clicked something on her computer and then I was out after a minute or two. When I went to the pharmacy to get my free medicines, I was told by the pharmacist to go back to the doctor. And so I went!

And the unbelievable thing happened again. The doctor told me that she's changing my diagnosis from ear infection to Mumps!!! And I was like, oh no, not again.

You see, every year I have this ear infection. The first time I had it, I went to KAC clinic and the doctor diagnosed it as mumps also. But I insisted to the doctor that it would be impossible because I already had it when I was young. But the doctor said that it's possible to have mumps again. And he referred me to the Infectious diseases section of the public hospital here. And it was very far. When I arrived in the hospital, they took some blood from me for the test and i waited there for more than an hour (while feeling sick) and the result was negative. OF COURSE! So, the doctor gave me 5 days sick leave then.

When I went home last 2004, I had ear infection while in the Philippines so I referred it to an ENT doctor there and he didn't see anything wrong inside of my ear. Rather, only the ear canal is infected and he said that it's expected if I am living in a dry, humid and hot climate.

So from then on, each time I feel the ear infection coming, I'd just take antibiotics (which were given to us by our nurse friends).

History repeated itself. LOL! I again insisted to the doctor that I already had mumps and that's what happened last time too. But she's adamant that I should go to Alsabah hospital - infectious diseases for the test.

Since I was not feeling very well coz the pain in my ear was strong, I did not go to the hospital at all. Instead, I took Ibuprofen and antibiotics, and spent the next day sleeping. When I woke up, I was sweating profusely. I even removed my pajamas and had to put on the electric fan even though our flat has centralized A/C. Only then I realized that it was my fever breaking out. Then with the continous intake of Ibuprofen and antibiotics, my ear infection was gone.

So I was absent for four days again and I didn't have a sick leave form coz I didn't go to the hospital. Which means, another deduction from next month's salary!

That's the end of part 1.

I got a new laptop!!!!!!!!

Presenting my newly acquired laptop - Toshiba Satellite A300! My first (and old) laptop was a Toshiba too and I love it so much so I looked for another Toshiba.

I got my old Laptop sometime in 2005 and it started to 'expire' last year. So I have been 'sacrificing' without a laptop for more than a year.

That's why I was not as frequent as before in JMF coz I had to share a laptop with Sharie. I haven't updated my blog as religiously as before; I haven't done any decent graphics!

But now that i have my new laptop, expect me to update my blog regularly and be very visible in JMF.

Welcome to my New Blog!

I know this is my second blog for this year but I was dissatisfied with my first one so I had to create and create until I am content. And so here it is.

I have renamed this blog again and now it's Lady Wakefield's Passions. So from now on, you will be hearing me rant, rave and gush about my passions in life.

This is actually inspired by one of my older posts in one of my many defunct blogs. LOL!

"The whole secret of life is to be interested in one thing profoundly and in a thousand things as well. " - Horace Walpole

So yes, this is all about my interests and passions in life. And you will find my current passions and interests in the pictures in my header.

1) KIMERALD (Kim and Gerald) - the hottest tandem to hit the Philippines this era. I think they're the biggest ever tandem coz they were adored by young and old, men and women, straight and bi - and ALMOST everyone. Their chemistry is so very tangible since their PBB days and has not waned even until now. And I just found myself going crazy over them. They're all I think of and watch and talk about mostly these days.

(The following was my original post about my interests and passions from my old blog)

2. READING - This is the one thing that I am most passionate about. It is part of my daily routine - I have to read something every night especially before going to bed. In fact, I can even say that I hunger for reading like a beggar who hasnt eaten for days. LOL! I could forsake anything - except this.

3. MUSIC - I dont have any musical talent whatsoever. I have already learned to accept this fact after my several failed attempts to try to learn how to play any musical instruments. Yet, I love music. It soothes me, it can convey a very deep message - like love and friendship and life. Music has never failed to lighten my mood.

4. GOOD CONVERSATION - In our home before, we always talk and talk - sometimes our dinner went on for hours because we would stay on the table and just talk about anything. Or sometimes, after watching TV, we were gathered in the living room and talk about anything from the seriousness of politics or religion and sometimes top each others's funny stories. That is why, when I came to live with our father's side of the family here in Kuwait, I can see the difference. Sometimes, I miss having a good conversation with someone. Now, it's no wonder why I got so involved in online discussion boards.

4. WRITING. Actually, I can say that I am a reluctant writer. I have never dreamt of becoming one until I was in High School. This desire was prompted I guess by my friends. They used to tell me that I can write and I used to kid them that maybe they're just saying that because i am sharing my homework with them. But in every essay assignment that we have, they always let me check their work. LOL! Then I tried writing on my own like poems and short stories - until I just found myself writing letters for the family and even the valedictory speech of our brother when he graduated from grade school. :D At the course of my writing, I found it therapeutic. I can pour out all my thoughts and emotions on my writing - especially when I am angry - and without blurting out loud things that might hurt the person I'm angry at.

5. PRAYERS/CHURCH/GOD - This might be just a cliche or the right thing to say to some but for me, I mean it. :D I guess, growing up going to Church every Sunday and praying the Rosary at night did this. And especially when I was in High School, studying at a Catholic School, I have learned the importance of prayer and the true meaning of hearing mass. I could say my relationship with HIM became stronger. We have not studied about Bible alone, but rather, I learned so much about life and relationships - which I am only realizing at lot more now. I could say I have matured spiritually when I was in High School and I guess that might have prompted me to want to become a nun then. If I miss going to Mass, my week seemed incomplete.

7. SKETCHING - I am a partially frustrated artist. I cannot draw very well but I can sketch landscape, flowers and any simple design using pens, pencils, crayons and watercolor. Sometimes, the desire just spring at an unexpected time and I would take time to sketch. I guess I have inherited only a portion of our uncle's gene. LOL! But hey, I was the Artist of the Year when we graduated from grade school. I submitted a sketch for judging, I remember now. LOL! Guess I could add that to my art accomplishment. :D I am just impatient to draw a person's face or complicated things correctly.

8. COMPUTER - It seems that computer has become a personal necessity for everyone these days. However, I am passionate about computer in the sense that it enables me to do all these things I am passionate about. LOL! I can download anything I want to read easily now, I can write of course in the computer without my hands hurting too much, I can listen to music with computer too, I can have a good conversation with anyone and of course, I can design/create artistic stuffs with computers. I guess I should thank God for Bill Gates huh? :D :D

9. FRIENDS - I am a very loyal friend and as far as I'm concerned, my friends could do no wrong. I treasure all my friends and I love them more than some of my relatives. LOL! :D They make my life happier and in fact, they were the reason why I love took forward going to school then. :D Now, I look forward to being online everyday... I wonder why? LOL!

10. FAMILY - last but not the least of course. When I was in college and when Nanay and I fought, I always say then that I wanted to finish school ASAP and live away from their meddling. Well, I got my wish when we came to Kuwait. But sadly, I realize and only seen their importance after spending two years here. I miss them sometimes.

Back to the quote, the things that interest me doesnt reach a dozen, but I think these would be enough to keep on going and living my life to the fullest. Well, maybe five years from now, there will already be someone special in my life that would make my life more interesting. :D
